WP6 : Implementation guide and CYCLER-SUPPLY WORKSHOP
(Leader : IAV)
Objectives
This workpackage contains :
- the development of implementation guide, especially for policy makers, water authorities, and greenhouse farmer associations, and greenhouse designers and constructors for an intensified and prolonged impact of new "CYCLER-greenhouses", and
- the preparation, performance and evaluation of the CYCLER-SUPPORT WORKSHOP.
Tasks
Task 6.1: Development of the CYCLER-SUPPORT implementation guide
(task leader: ICARDA)
In order to facilitate further practical implementation steps, the project partners will develop an implementation guide in the form of a handbook in French and English languages for municipalities, water authorities, greenhouse farmer associations, and greenhouse designers and constructors,. These guidelines will contain the following information :
- socio-economical and ecological benefits and risks of the new greenhouse generation (like potential income and market development, potentials for waste water treatment and clear water production, hygienic aspects, etc.), (accomplished by ICARDA and ENIT)
- recommendations for suitable non-conventional crops and their market potentials, (accomplished by TTZ)
- how to calculate investments and running costs, (accomplished by IAV)
- list of potential promising materials, (accomplished by TUB)
- communal regulations and hygiene standards, (accomplished by IAMB)
- recommendations for financing models, (accomplished by ICARDA)
- recommendations for policy options, (accomplished by IAMB)
- others
ICARDA will be responsible to present the pre-final implementation guide version to the stakeholders during the workshop (see task 6.2) and to organise the training for first implementation steps. ICARDA will implement the feedback of the workshop stakeholders in this version and finalise the guide.
ICARDA will subcontract the print of at least 100 guides per language, ENIT will insure the cross-reading of the guide by a professional translator.
The final version will be send to the interested stakeholders, which will have the option during the workshop to order a guideline, and to distribute it via the project web-page and probably, as well, through a scientific internet publisher.
Task 6.2 : Preparation, performance and evaluation of
the CYCLER-SUPPORT WORKSHOP
(task leader: IAV)
IAV will be responsible to organise the CYCLER-SUPPORT WORKSHOP. The workshop will be held in Agadir, Morocco and will last 3 days. The workshop is foreseen :
- to identify the relevant stakeholders from the MED countries (see WP1)
- to inform them about the potentials of implementing the new greenhouse generation (results WP-1-5)
- to promote the implementation guide, and to train the stakeholders in the first implementation steps.
The feedback of the stakeholders will be collected and implemented in the final version of the implementation guide.
Following, the draft of the workshop performance will be finalised in this task :
First day :
- presentation of the actual water situation in the MPC's (including impact on agriculture and greenhouse market) (accomplished by IAV)
- presentation of the CYCLER-SUPPORT project objectives and results (accomplished by TTZ
- presentation of the two pilote site studies in Morocco and Tunisia (accomplished by ENIT and TUB)
Second day :
- presentation of the CYCLER-SUPPORT implementation guide (accomplished by ICARDA)
- visiting potential implementation sited in Agadir (accomplished by IAV and ICARDA)
Third day :
- Training on the first implementation steps is conducted in two groups :
- Group 1 : Water authorities and municipalities
(accomplished by IAMB and ICARDA)
- Group 2 : Greenhouse farmer associations, and greenhouse designers and constructors (accomplished by ENIT and TUB)
TTZ and IAV will support the other partners with the development of the training material. The training will contain a presentation, a computer simulation which shows the function of the new greenhouse generation, a computer simulation of benefits and risks for the urban/sub-urban structure and the environment, a presentation of different construction materials and crops, and others.
The responsible partners for the activities that are foreseen for the workshop are as well responsible for the development of related material (presentations, training material, etc.). IAV will subcontract the print of the posters and leaflets which are needed for the workshop.
The workshop will be evaluated afterwards by all partners. ICARDA will be responsible to finalise the final version of the implementation guide (see task 6.1).
